I have been using a PC ever since the 3rd grade, when I was first introduced to computers. A few months ago, I purchased my first Mac computer, not only because everyone. I knew would brag about how awesome they are but also because every PC computer I owned had crashed.
I was curious to see if Macs were as good as everyone said they were.
When I bought my iMac desktop, I eagerly went home and set it up in less than thirty minutes.
At that moment, I fell in love. Even with all the good talk about Macs, the desktop exceeded my expectations.
The installation was remarkably simple, and there were many programs pre-installed, all of which were easy to understand and use. Every day, I would discover more and more incredible applications.
The stability and composition of a Mac is far more superior to that of a Personal Computer. When I click on something, it opens promptly, unlike when I used to click on something on a PC.
Remember double-clicking and that rotating hour-glass pointer? My Mac rarely freezes and rarely gives me problems, and I have had it for almost a year.
Many programs are pre-installed, new software updates are available frequently, free applications/downloads are available on the Apple website and the Mac automatically sleeps when not used for several minutes.
Microsoft Word and other Microsoft programs are available for Mac computers so that files are compatible with PC.
Another major reason why I prefer Macs over PCs is that it is almost impossible for a Mac to receive a virus.
Overall, I believe Mac computers are more efficient and easier to work with. Whether it be a desktop or a laptop, Mac computers occupy little space which is also a positive aspect.
Apple is constantly creating newer and higher quality products. Once you go Mac, you will never go back!
I know Macs are newer and “more advanced,” but I’ve always used PCs.
As long as I’ve been able to type and play computer games, the PC was what I used. Sometimes they malfunctioned, but using them was very easy.
They’ve been around longer and everyone is more comfortable using them. They have many programs too, all of which are easy to use. So user-friendliness is one thing.
Another reason is the limited choices in computer gaming.
True, I don’t play games often but it’s nice to know that I always could. Many games aren’t compatible on Macs.
Also, few people are actually familiar with how to use the CD on a Mac. I found out later there’s a slit on the monitor.
Whenever I use the Macs in school, I am always annoyed by the constant “disappearances” of windows.
Where did that tool bar go? Where did the applications go?
The last thing, and probably the most important thing, is the unbelievably high price.
Mac is a monopoly so there’s no competition between computer parts manufacturers and that makes the price pretty high. I could essentially buy a laptop for $400.
The cheapest Mac I could buy is like $1000. It’s great that the school gets them for free, but I can’t ever see myself spending that much on a computer.
Maybe the Mac is the future of computers. It’s more futuristic, in looks and in content. But I’m faithfully sticking to my PC.
